[1966] Tico (Boogaloo)
The 1965 Tico release garnered a national chart topper from the albums title track and one of the Boogaloo era's most prolific hits for Nuyorican Jose "Sonny" Calderon aka Joe Cuba. Here's track #5 from "Side A" of the original vinyl pressing.

Playback Notes:
Cuba's innovative sound came from a stripped down 6 piece combo which replaced the horns with his signature vibraphone sound
Joe Cuba (congas, percussion), Jimmy Sabater (timables, vocals), Nick Jimenez (piano), Roy Rosa (bass), Tommy Berrios (vibraphone), and Willie Torres (vocals)
Cuba is often noted as the genre's most successful crossover artist working as the opening act for Jame's Brown and Motown artists in the late 60's
Before signing to Tico, Cuba enjoyed success with releases on Mardi Gras, Embajador, and Seeco labels. Bang! Bang! was his fifth release on Tico
